JOB DESCRIPTIONJob Title:Chief Financial OfficerDepartment:FinanceReports To:President & CEOStatus:Salaried – ExemptJOB SUMMARY:The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) directs the organization's financial operations in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and nonprofit financial management best practices. As a member of the senior leadership team, the CFO is responsible for the planning, implementation, management, and oversight of all financial activities. This position reports directly to the President & CEO.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:LeadershipLead the organization's financial planning, operations, performance, and fiscal management.Oversee accounts payable, payroll, and associated general ledger reconciliationsManage the annual budget process and board approval. Evaluate and advise on the financial impact of long-range planning, new programs/strategies, and regulatory action.Deliver timely financial analysis and insights to support executive and Board decision-making.Oversee the government grants compliance function, ensuring organizational adherence to grant requirements and accountability for the annual Single Audit and Schedule of Federal Awards (SEFA) preparation.Lead continuous improvement of the budgeting process by educating budget owners and optimizing budget software.Direct treasury management activities, including banking relationships and liquidity.Manage cash flow and forecasting. Develop a reliable cash flow projection process Provide financial counsel on contracts and agreements entered into by BGCMA.Evaluate the finance team structure and plan for continuous improvement.Board and CommitteeParticipate in BGCMA board meetings.Manage BGCMA Investment and Budget & Finance Committees.Lead Investment and Budget & Finance Committee activities, including reporting, approvals, and action plan implementation.Department ManagementLead and develop the finance team through strategic talent acquisition, performance management, coaching, and succession planning. Foster a culture of collaboration and inclusion and ensure staff accountability.EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:EducationBachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university is required.
